Part-D: Stand-Alone Prescription Drug Coverage

Kentucky offers 21 stand-alone Part D drug plans in 2024. There is only one that is your best option. It’s the plan that provides the lowest overall cost when you add premium, deductible and prescription copays together for the year.
Drug costs are typically determined by the plan’s formulary (list of covered prescriptions), drug plan deductibles for higher-tiered prescriptions and your choice of pharmacy (CVS vs Walgreens, as an example).
Drug plans should be evaluated each year during the Annual Open Enrollment period (October 15th – December 7th). Drug plans change their formularies, networks, premiums, copays and deductibles from year to year. This is where we see our clients waste the most money and why it’s so important to review it annually.
*As your Medicare agent we send out a curtesy reminder email & post card each year a month prior to the AEP. We also have created a “How to Review your Drug Plan”.
