Apply for Original Medicare through Social Security
3 months prior to turning 65 you can apply for Medicare through Social Security.
If you are not enrolled in social Security, YOU MUST contact them to enroll in Original Medicare. This process can take up to a month before you receive your cards. It’s recommended to start this process as soon as your eligible.
** If you are already receiving Social Security benefits, you can skip this step. You will AUTOMATICALLY be ENROLLED in Medicare and will receive your Medicare Red, White & blue card at the beginning of the 3-month window.

Enroll in Medicare Part C or Medicare Supplement
Once you’ve applied for your Medicare and received your card it’s time to contact an agent to assist you in determining if a Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan) or a Medicare Supplement + Part D (Drug Plan) will be best for you.

Enroll in Medicare Part D – Prescription Drug Plan
If you enrolled in a Medicare Supplement or have Original Medicare coverage only, you will need to enroll in Medicare Part P to avoid a penalty from Medicare.
As your Medicare Supplement Agent, we will assist you in your initial enrollment of the Part D.
**If you enrolled in Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan) you will skip this step as it’s included in your coverage.

Reminder for Annual Open Enrollment Period
Each year we recommend that you review your Part C (Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan) or Part D Prescription Drug Plan as they change annually. This enrollment period runs from October 15th – December 7th with all plan changes starting January 1st.
PART C (Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan) Members – contact your agent.
PART D (Prescription Drug Plan) members contact Medicare at (800) 633-4227 or utilize the online Medicare Portal at www.medicare.gov
